Steps to make Carrot halwa:
- First, peel the skin of the carrots and grate finely.
- Take a pan and add ghee and combine the finely grated carrots in it and saute well.
- Next, add milk in it and mix well. After 5-7 minutes until it changes the color.add milk in it and stir well.
- Boil continues till milk reduces and carrots are cooked well. Once the milk is thickened completely then add sugar to it. Cook until the sugar is dissolved.
- Cook till the halwa thick and releases the ghee. Add dryfruits to it.
- Later when you off the gas flame then after you have to do continues to stir so sugar's water will not come out. Now halwa is ready.
By the way, in Punjab it is called halwa as Gajrela. During the winters season, we make gajar ka halwa mostly. Carrot Halwa also known as Gajar ka Halwa is popular in North India and it is generally made during the winter season. In carrot halwa recipe, carrots, milk, ghee and sugar are added. But you can also add cardamom powder and finely or roughly chopped dried fruits in it.
