- Get 1 cup khus khus(poppy seeds)
- Prepare 1 cup sugar
- Take 2 cup milk
- Get 1/4 cup dry dates powder
- Make ready 2 crushed green cardamom
- Make ready 1/4 cup mixed dryfruits powder
- Prepare 4-5 tbsp ghee
- Take 2 tbsp soaked raisins
- Make ready 2 tbsp chopped dryfruit for garnish
This halwa first sounded very unusual for me. But it is quite a popular sweets in certain places. Soak poppy seeds in water for atleast an hour; Grind the poppy seeds to a fine paste by adding little milk. In a kadai heat ghee add the poppy seed paste and stir them constantly.
Instructions to make Poppy seeds halwa:
- Soak poppy seeds overnight. In the morning wash poppy seeds drain complete water and grind them into a fine paste. No need to add water while grinding.
- Now heat kadhai. Add ghee into it as it heats add the paste of poppy seeds on low flame start roasting it.
- Roast it till color chages completely. It will take approximately 20-25 mins.
- As color changes add milk. Cook it on low flame then add dry dates powder and green cardamom start stirring it continuously. Till the mixture absorbs milk completely. This takes around 10-15min on low flame.
- Now add dry fruit powder mix it then add sugar and start stirring it till sugar gets dissolved into the mixture.
- In the end, add soaked raisins mix them and turn off the gas. (Note: add raisins in the end if you add in between the halwa taste tangy flavor) serve it hot and garnish it with dry fruit. You can store this for around 12-15days in the fridge. Before eating reheat and then eat.
