Roasting the saffron strands helps to bring out its aroma. To prepare this easy Badam Halwa recipe, soak the almonds in hot water for an hour. Once done, remove the outer skin of the almonds and grind them in a grinder to a paste with milk, sugar and saffron. Keep this mixture aside till further use.

  1. Soak almonds and poppy seeds separately for 6 hours. Peel the almonds and make a paste by grinding both ingredients together. Now heat ghee in heavy bottomed pan,add this paste.
  2. Saute on medium flame till nice colour and grainy texture then add milk.let it boil,mix at regular intervals.
  3. Once the milk reduces and the halwa thickens then add nuts and sugar. Also add cardamom powder.
  4. Now by stirring constantly let cook it till it absorbs the milk completely. Serve it by garnishing with almond flakes and some raisins.

Once done, remove the outer skin of the almonds and grind them in a grinder to a paste with milk, sugar and saffron. Keep this mixture aside till further use.
